The 2026 Nissan Almera has officially launched in the Latin American and Mexican markets under the name Versa. The updated version features significant changes to both the exterior and interior.
Nissan has just introduced the 2026 Versa in Latin America and Mexico. This model is also known as the Nissan Almera in many Southeast Asian markets. The new upgrade receives significant changes to both the exterior and interior, making it stand out from the Nissan KAIT model that was previously launched in Brazil.
In this upgrade, the 2026 Nissan Versa/Almera B-segment sedan has undergone a comprehensive design overhaul. The front end stands out with newly designed LED headlights, along with a redesigned front bumper and hood.
The front fenders have also been redesigned to give the car a more robust appearance. At the rear, the car features new LED taillights, a redesigned trunk lid and rear bumper, while the alloy wheels have also been restyled.
The interior is an area with many notable improvements. Nissan has redesigned the dashboard and center console, and
equipped it with a completely new digital instrument cluster.
The highlight of the cabin is the 12.3-inch central touchscreen, significantly larger than before. The car is also equipped with a BOSE Surround Sound system, along with speakers integrated into the headrests of the front seats to enhance the audio experience for occupants.
In the Latin American and Mexican markets, the 2026 Versa uses a 1.6L naturally aspirated gasoline engine, producing a maximum power of 118 horsepower and front-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the Nissan Almera in Thailand is currently equipped with a 999cc three-cylinder 1.0L IG-Turbo engine, delivering 100 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque.
The 1.6L engine in the 2026 Versa is paired with an XTronic CVT automatic transmission with D-Step Logic technology, uses E20 fuel, and has a 35-liter fuel tank. Additionally, another possibility being discussed is that a future Almera might be equipped with Nissan's e-POWER powertrain.
This system uses a 1.2L three-cylinder gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor instead of directly transmitting power to the wheels. The electric motor delivers a maximum power of 136 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, coupled with a 2.06 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
In Mexico, the 2026 Nissan Almera starts at 382,900 pesos (approximately 581.2 million VND) for the Sense manual transmission version and goes up to 470,900 pesos (approximately 702.5 million VND) for the top-of-the-line Exclusive CVT version. Compared to before, the starting price has increased by about $1,700 (nearly 45 million VND).
It remains unclear whether the Nissan Almera sedan in Southeast Asian markets will adopt the same new design as the 2026 Versa, as well as the possibility of the e-POWER powertrain.
